Interdisciplinary Art Project

Interdisciplinary art project aims to trigger students’ interests and potentials by using art. Overall, this project is motivated by discovering how to better support students and teachers in K-12 art classrooms through emerging practices and research. I garnered this idea from my own experience as an art learner and art teacher. After I finished my fine art study in Italy in 2014, I came back to China. I realized that Chinese art education most likely focuses on just one component of art, like drawing, painting, dancing, or playing other instruments. Many parents, even teachers, do not think art is important in the educational process. However, regarding my learning experience, art enlightened me to many other fields like science and biology.

This project builds on research in Multiple Intelligences theory, art education, and self-initialtive research to better support the art experiences for K-12 students.
